SAASHWATHI PRABHU

Saashwathi, an established musician, singer & composer, belongs to a family which has its roots deep in Indian arts, being the granddaughter of Late. R Yagnaraman & daughter of Y. Prabhu. She is currently the CEO of the Krishna Gana Sabha Trust. She has served as a Committee Member for 10 years & has been closely following the footsteps of her legendary grandfather and illustrious father in raising the bar of this premier institution. She has been working behind the scenes for several years & has been promoting a lot of innovations in the performing arts and in making significant infrastructural changes to house state of the art facilities for the auditoriums & the performing artists.

Saashwathi has studied music with (Late). Violin Maestro, Sri Lalgudi G. Jayaraman for over 10 years and has given several Solo performances since the year 2000. Saashwathi had a deep passion to create music since the age of 13 when she did her first composition on behalf of PSBB School for Bharathbala’s “Vande Mataram” for India’s 50th year of Independence. Since then, she has composed many numbers in both classical and fusion though her major focus is on classical based fusion. Creating music is an expression of the soul according to Saashwathi’s experience. As a composer, Saashwathi has composed over 55 songs to her credit, including instrumental, fusion classical & devotional music which have been featured in several live performances, Cd recordings and albums. Apart from being a musician, Saashwathi Prabhu has completed her B.sc and M.sc in Psychology with a specialization in Counselling and Guidance in 2005. She has had extensive training under Brinda Jayaraman, Senior Counsellor for over 6 years and has worked with her as her junior. Since 2008, Saashwathi has had her own growing clientele and a successful profession as a Counselling Psychologist dealing with Marital counselling, Premarital Counselling, Parenting & Behaviour and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for individuals with emotional disturbances including anxiety, depression and self- esteem Issues.
