A Chartered Accountant by profession, he has been involved with the Sabha from a very young age by supporting his father with institution’s administration and development. He is now serving the Sabha as it’s General Secretary since 2007 and has been awarded the Kalaimamani for his contribution to promoting Arts & Culture. An expert in managing & nurturing relationships, Prabhu has been primarily responsible for establishing the philosophy of trust-based relationships. He is a serious lover of the classical arts and he is deeply committed to preserve and nurture the great Indian cultural tradition.

He was inducted as a Committee Member in 2002 and went on to become Joint Secretary in 2006. He has served as a Committee Member for 10 years and as Joint Secretary for 4 years, and has been assisting Late Sri R. Yagnaraman in his activities of the Sabha and was instrumental in purchasing the property of Krishna Gana Sabha. He has also been instrumental in preservation and public release of many archival concert performances in aid of the Sabha Building Fund. Under the presidentship of Dr. Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetty, Prabhu has played an instrumental role in the Sabha reaching many of its important milestones – acquisition of land for Sabha premises, a complete renovation of the Sabha in 2001 and construction of Krishna Gana Sabha’s new Air-conditioned auditorium both the main hall “Dr Nalli Gana Vihar” as well as the mini hall, “Kamakoti Gana Mandir”.

Born on 1949 at Madras, Y Prabhu completed his schooling in Sri Ramakrishna Mission Boy‟s High school and thereafter completed his B.Com from Vivekananda College, Chennai. He went on to complete his Chartered Accountancy in 1978. Since young age, he has been interested in fine arts and has won various prizes in music.He has recited a full fledged Harikatha on the life of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa before the then Chief Minister Shri Kamaraj.
